The first step I personally take in creating a digital character is create a rough sketch on pen and paper. These steps will be following the journey of my most recent character creation. The rough sketch photo was lost so there is no photo for this step. 

Next, I take a photo of the drawing with either a scanner or my Iphone and then send it to my computer to put into Adobe Illustrator. 

The next step in the process is doing the final sketch and the final details of the drawing/character. 

The next step that I usually take is perfecting this rough sketch before the scanning process to make my physical drawing a digital drawing. The final sketch can be seen below.

This step involves tracing the image and roughly editing it digitally to be ready for the  colouring process. (this is a very ROUGH step)

Next I choose the desired colour scheme from a colour scheme generator and then colour in the drawing & add desired shading. The final result is shown below, along with the colour scheme.
