First entry: Artist Inspiration
One artist in which I take inspiration from is Jawn Rocha, (www.jawnrocha.com)

Jawn Rocha is an American photographer who primarily takes portrait photography and live performance photography for the band ‘Waterparks’. This photographer’s work uses vibrant colours and action shots to create an energetic atmosphere appealing to the eyes. Jawn’s website ( https://jawnrocha.com ) contains information in his ‘about section’ tells the narrative entailing details that kickstarted his photography journey, about how his friend’s “forced [him] to go on tour with them” and how this “fed him” and his photography career. He talks about how even though he failed his grade 10 photography class, he is still a wildly successful photographer with his work being featured in major magazines such as Alternative Press and Rock Sound. Rocha’s work is incredibly inspiring as his style uses vibrant colours to contrast between a dark background during live performances. Through his studio and his portrait photography, Jawn Rocha continues to use vibrant colours as both backgrounds and the subjects while avoiding confrontation and visual noise. This creates a very energetic and upbeat atmosphere while also remaining very calm.
Jawn Rocha’s work captures an energetic atmosphere that is simultaneously non-confrontational, this energy is something that I would like to explore through both my photography and my graphic design work.
Examples of this being displayed in his photography are shown below.

Second entry: Artist Inspiration #2
Another artist I take inspiration from is Laurie Rowan (https://www.laurierowan.com/), you can view the 'work' section from his mobile website below.

Laurie Rowan is an British graphic designer who specialises in animations and digital creations of character. This digital artist uses pastel but simultaneously vibrant colours with primarily rounded shapes to created aesthetically pleasing artworks and characters. Rowan's website (https://laurierowan.com) contains information about his career in digital creations. He mentions his clients that he works for as a creative lead on projects (for example, BBC, Channel 4, Disney and Google).
Rowan's digital artwork is incredibly inspiring to me personally as his style and animations are so calming and theraputic to watch, they show cool and abstract visuals from a world Rowan conjoured in his head, which is something that I aspire to successfully do.

Third entry: Logo experimentation & feedback
To come up with a proper design for the logo of this website, there were 5 experimental designs that included 1, handwritten text, 2, shapes, 3, contrasting fonts, 4, use of an icon or symbol, 5 use of an image or device
1: Handwritten text

2: Shapes

3: Contrasting Fonts (final logo chosen for website)

4: Use of Icon or Symbol

5: Use of Device or Image

Peer Feedback

"The use of an icon or symbol logo needs to be edited to remove the raindrops and the overlapping lines that are unpleasant to the eyes. Rounded edges on the fonts are a good way to make the logo appeal more visually."

Client work - my experience
Recently I have had a lovely experience with a client, Jayden. (The last name has been redacted for privacy reasons). The process was as follows:
1. I posted a newer post to my website and this lovely client reached out to me inquiring about commission work through Instagram's private message feature (my Instagram is @geesdrawingsx).
2. He messaged be privately over Imessage with the following message:
3. I began to work on the drawing with frequent Facetime calls with him and audio calls in order to gain a better understanding on his wishes and to gain feedback during the process rather than after it, the program used was Adobe Illustrator.
4. The final image and design was sent through and he progressed with merchandise printing with the design.
This is the final result:
I am very thankful for the opportunity that Jayden has given me to design something for him and even more thankful that he was willing to give me feedback when it was requested without hesitation.
If anyone would like client work you can contact me through Instagram; @geesdrawingsx
